Friendly and informative tour (in English!)! Beautiful Joyau Champagne!

The Boizel tour was in our top 3 of the tours we went on during our stay in Epernay (we visited 8 places). Getting to see the tank room was a highlight. The Joyau wines were amazing. We brought home a bottle of each. Highly recommend this tour.

Unfortunately, we've had a very disappointing experience. The waiting room, if we can call it that, didn't offer much comfort while we were waiting for the tour to start. There were quite a lot of people present during the tour, I would almost argue too much, even though we paid a higher price, but apparently that's only for the type of drinks that you're being served. Our tour guide was extremely inexperienced and literally started off by saying it's her very first tour. Her knowledge was limited and could not provide any information outside of the base story that she was taught to tell. Her English was sufficient enough to tell the story but not to actually communicate properly while being asked questions. The way she did the tour also showed her inexperience and it was hard to follow; we were lucky that we had multiple tours during our trip by other houses that we learned a lot there, because it was rather confusing and unclear coming from her. At the end of the tour, we were sat down at a table and served the champagne: we had a tiny bit of background story about what we were being served but it was disappointingly little compared to how much other houses were able to tell about their bottles. Even the manner in which the drinks were served were mostly okay, but not as professional as we've seen from other houses. And perhaps the strangest part was that after they poured our drinks, all the staff just left and never came back. People drank their drinks and then left one for one. Many were even confused if they had to wait for somebody to come back or not.

This has been by far the worst house to visit, despite its size and history. The only positive part about it was that the cellars are genuinely well designed. But that absolutely does not justify the price-tag. I would highly recommend Moët & Chandon over the house of Boizel. We surely won't return, nor recommend this to anybody else.

The process of making champagne, based on centuries of knowledge, passion and craftsmanship, is fascinating and results in absolutely delicious champagnes.

Highly recommend this experience! So much history & old world under ground cellar. Our guide was lovely & the champagne was excellent.

Being a ‘smaller’ house they highlight different aspects of the process like the vat room which (some? of) the bigger houses don’t highlight or isn’t part of their tour. And the champagne tasting was lovely.

Our guide Eleana was awesome although she had only been with Boizel for a few months she nailed the tour perfectly. She did an excellent job of answering all the questions and made it interesting the entire time.

The tasting after the tour was very enjoyable with very good explanations of each vintage we were tasting.

Our visit was a lovely experience, though booked in French, our guide spoke sometimes in English for the less fluent speakers.
Would recommend and will be back.

Nous avons également beaucoup apprécié le fait qu’après la dégustation, il n’y ait pas eu de démarche commerciale insistante. Nous recommanderions cette visite sans la moindre hésitation. Nous avons eu une très belle expérience lors de notre visite chez Champagne Boizel. La maison est magnifique et l’histoire de la famille est présentée avec beaucoup de soin et d’authenticité.

La visite des caves était particulièrement intéressante et très bien organisée. Nous avons surtout apprécié la qualité des explications et l’atmosphère conviviale tout au long de la visite.

Un grand merci à notre guide, qui a été absolument remarquable. Passionné(e), très clair(e) dans ses explications et toujours disponible pour répondre à nos questions, il/elle a rendu la visite encore plus enrichissante et agréable. Sa gentillesse et son enthousiasme ont vraiment marqué notre expérience.

We didn’t know what to expect showing up to a tour at 10 o’clock in the morning, but our guide Thayane blew us away! We learned more on this tour than the 10 others we had done and she made us fall in love with your brand and history. What a truly incredible experience we will remember for a very long time.

I liked cellar visit and informations by guide.
About degustation, the wines were excellent but I think that it'd be better to spend more time and to offer some appetizers ( bread,, cheese...)... Simply, a delicious baguette...

We had en experienced, lovely guide, the cellars were charming. I loved to visit a smaller brand, it felt much more personal than the bigger houses. The taste of the Joyau champagnes was exquisite. Can honestly recommend.

Booking was easy, with lots of different options for the tour and the tasting. A knowledgable and approachable tour guide, who was happy to answer questions. Access to the stills and cellar was welcomed, although a lot of the other areas where production takes place are off site.
Was impressed by the accessibility of the tour. There were a few visitors with disabilities and they were able to be very much part of the tour along with the other visitors.
It was interesting to see a smaller producer, compared with the larger houses and it was lovely to hear of the continued involvement of the family.
There is only one thing negative to note and that would be the non-alcoholic juice. Whilst, we appreciated having the option, the peach juice was not particularly pleasant!
Overall, I would definitely recommend the visit.

Stunning building and history. The tour was really informative but not too overwhelming. The building and tasting rooms are gorgeous and all the staff we encountered were super friendly and welcoming, especially the guide. There are so many options in Epernay but def recommend this one for our tours and tastings!

Very well guided tour by an enthusiast Boizel-lady, explaining the region, grape types, champagne, wine & ratafia making process, including visit to the caves, and a champagne tasting on top.

We booked Boizel as we’d tried it a few times in the UK and wanted to go on a smaller less commercialised tour. Tour guide fantastic and very knowledgeable, forget the large houses, go and see a smaller house and wander through their smaller cellars and taste their outstanding champagne.

Very knowledgeable guide - Different from the usual and very interesting to see some of the champagne making process live.
Once again, however, as in other houses, we are not given anything to eat and it is difficult to drink two glasses of champagne without a something to eat!
Booking online is very easy.
I would suggest offering tours without tastings, pheraps offering a half bottle of champagne, especially for those who have to drive with friends.
Overall a highly recommended visit!

This tour and tasting was marginal at best. We have done extensive wine tasting and tours around the world, but do not have high standards by any means. Caves were impressive but English-speaking guide spoke too quickly and was difficult to understand. Had we not done a more comprehensive tour in the morning at another place, I would not have learned a thing. Were given two glasses of champagne at the end of the tour with no explanation of what we are tasting. Our guide left and said we could enjoy our champagne on the patio if we preferred. The tour and tasting were presented as being 2 hrs long but ended after only 1 hr. Definitely not worth the money.

Beautiful place and easy to find at Avenue de Champagne.The visit was very educational and entertaining. We learned insights and time flew by quick. The tasting itself was very good as well and we are new Boizel fans now.

The visit to the Boizel cellars was a very interesting and enjoyable experience, our guide was very knowledgeable in all aspects of the making of champagne and about the house of Boizel. Our tasting was of two Joyau champagnes and these were very nice and a great way to finish our tour. We would definitely recommend a tour of Boizel to anyone visiting Epernay.

This tour shows more of the “real” production than other houses. The tour guide was informative and interesting. And the tasting that included the Joyau 2012 was superb. Highly recommended.

The tour is built for beginners, who doesn't know about production of champagne at all. Would be great if you could provide a tour for people with an experience.

I understand the process of champagne making better now.

It was nice that we could still book this tour late. Other houses do not give that opportunity. You have to book well in advance.

We had a fantastic tour and tasting at Boizel. Would highly recommend as one of the smaller producers on the Avenue compared to a Moet etc. Fascinating to hear about the experimentation that the family explores, always looking forward but while retaining the overarching principles and values of the house. Would highly recommend for the complete experience. It’s also a lovely house on the Avenue to stop for a glass of champagne.

Nous avons beaucoup la guide qui etait enjoué et trés claire dans ces explications au sein de la cave.
Par contre une fois que nous étions dans la salle de degustation, elle nous a servi et donné les explications, ensuite elle est partie ce qui est normal. Nous étions avec des personnes trés bruyantes (un groupe de 5 et 2 personnes d'origine belge) et ceci a quelque peu gaché notre dégustation alors que les champagnes etaient fabuleux.
Je pense qu'il faut demander à ce que les gens soient respectueux et calmes pour profiter pleinement de ce moment.

We particularly enjoyed this visit. As a champagne house still owned by the family this visit felt less industrial and more authentic than others. The guide was very good, he knew and shared lots and took plenty of questions. Our tasting with Champagne Boizel was wonderful. Our guide was very informative, and the tour was comprehensive where we learned about the champagne making process, the difference between vintage & non-vintage, the area, how many champagne houses there are, etc. Plus the two taste of Joyau that we had we thoroughly enjoyed.

The group was small enough to hear everything and the pace of tourguide was good. The cellars were very interesting and wonderful to see. The tasting was great- superb champagne.

La visite prévue pendant 1h30 ne dure en fait que 50 minutes environ, le reste du temps étant consacré à la dégustation. Quant au prix (60 euros pour l'offre JOYAU), il est à mes yeux en décalage avec ce que l'on attend d'une telle expérience, d'autant plus que vous n'avez même pas eu la délicatesse d'offrir quelque chose à grignoter pour accompagner vos cuvées ! Dommage, car une Maison telle que la vôtre se doit de soigner son image, d'être à la hauteur de sa réputation, que ce soit à l'égard d'une clientèle curieuse de découvrir votre gamme de produits qu'envers les membres amis qui se déplacent jusqu'à Épernay dans l'espoir de vivre un moment suspendu !

Bubbles and Caves! our tour at Boizel Champagne house was great. Very informative and brilliant for young teenagers as well. our tour guide was wonderful, very happy to answer any and all questions. Lovely champagne tasting for adults and the teenagers enjoyed their chardonay grape juice. I would recommend booking early, and bring a strong carrier bag with you in case of large purchases of the champagne.

The visit was amazing (the best visit on our vacation). The guide was really kind and perfect. Finally, the tasting location was stunning.

Truly the best quality in the entire trip- highly recommend the Vintages as they are above your average Champagne, better than many other famous ones in the area.

The staff is also very friendly and truly passionate about what they do- a huge thanks for making our visit beyond special.

I honestly expected more. The tour of your premises and the explanation of the territory was interesting, but frankly a bit brief. I also found the tasting of two of your labels a bit unexciting. I had no problem booking the tasting.

This was an adequate tour with a guide that had an adequate understanding of the subject matter. I travel widely and felt that I did not learn anything i did not already know. The tour was quite basic and followed by a limited tasting with no discussion on the wine. it felt very much as if these tours were an obligation not something used to really showcase the product. I would recommend it as worthwhile but not the best in Epernay

The champagnes we tasted at Boizel were exquisite and the cellars were beautiful and interesting to see. However, I found that the tour itself felt a little sterile and less engaging than other tours I experienced in Epernay. The room that the tasting was held in also felt a little too formal and rigid as compared to some of the other champagne houses.

I would recommend Boizel. The tour, service and champagne were terrific.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Boizel was the only tour we could get into last minute but I’m so glad we did. Kids got a bit bored but we’re very happy there was a colouring table at the tasting. Would have LOVED a little juice tasting or something to occupy them further. Overall fun time, delicious champagne but a bit expensive

For what seemed to be a smaller house, Boizel did a fantastic job with their cellar tours and tastings. The 2007 rose vintage was one of the best we tried in Champagne. It was all around an amazing experience!

Je recommanderais sans hésiter cette visite même si on connaît déjà la fabrication du champagne, on en apprend toujours plus. La guide était à notre écoute, très professionnelle et la dégustation valait la peine. Vous pouvez arriver plus tôt et déguster un verre avant la visite car il y a une belle terrasse dehors et le parking est gratuit.

We were shown around the vats, oak & steel, toured the fabulous cellars & finally tasted two vintage champagnes. Both champagnes were excellent, if you haven’t tried Boizel you should. Our guide was friendly & knowledgeable.

Our tour earlier this week was fantastic. Such a great family Champagne House. The tour was in English and our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot about the process from start to finish. We had our kids with us and they were engaged with us. During the our tasting the kids were given their own artesian juice and activity to keep them busy. The facility is lovely and our tour of the caves was truly memorable. Par contre, extrêmement déçu par la dégustation des 2 joyaux de France millésimés. Vraiment peu dans le verre, absence de bulles dans le verre, pas à mon goût. C’est ça le top de chez Boizel ?
J’exprime gentiment ma surprise et ma déception à l’accompagnatrice et demande à goûter le « standard » de la maison (très bien pour le coup). On trouve normal de me faire payer 9.- euros supplémentaires (en plus des 100.- déjà versés - on était 2)…

Conclusion: un peu froissé de cette expérience, j’ai acheté ailleurs. Dommage car la première partie était vraiment très réussie.

Visite à travers les tonneaux/cuves et les belles caves de l’avenue de Champagne.
Guide très agréable et expérimentée qui fournit de bonnes explications et qui répond aux questions.
Nous n’avons par contre pas apprécié la dégustation des joyaux de France (un rose et un blanc 2007 et 2008) qui ont un goût très (trop) alcoolisé mais ceci reste subjectif. La visite étant la même pour tous, nous aurions sans doute mieux apprécié la degustation à moindre prix.

Un acceuil gentil et chalareux, beaucoup des explinations avec pas mal de détails.
La dégustation des champagnes Joyeaus étaient plus que parfaite! Des champagnes extraordinaires dans une jolie salle acceuillante!
Pouvoir continuer la dégustation des autres champagnes dans la cour de la maison était géniale! Surtout le sous bois!

A very personable tour of the champagne house and cellars.
The tasting was done in a lovely tasting room, children were catered for too.
We’ll worth a visit, beautiful champagne.

A professional and well conducted Cellar visit. Our guide showed competence and ability to answer all questions about the winemaking process as well as presenting the wines during the tasting.

The Joyau de France was excellent and a very informative visit in the cellar.

The guide is super nice and diligently helps visitors understand the history & culture of champagne.

We really enjoyed the tour of the cellars. We saw very old champagne editions. The guide was wonderful and shared a lot of information. The tasting was also great, this champagne is top notch! We ended up ordering a small shipment. The prices are better than in the US. thank you for the wonderful experience!

What a great experience, especially the caves are just special and I loved the library of the owners.
We would much recommend the tour but also the champagnes. Be warned, we liked them enough to ship a case!
All the staff are not just very knowledgeable but also very helpful and polite.

My husband, my son and myself visited Boizel on 23/04 and we loved all about it.
A special mention goes to our guide, Irene, who was kind, precise and very professional in guiding us through the visit and the tasting.
We visited other cellars before, but we have to say that Boizel catched us for its attention to the details.
The tasting room was very well prepared, we appreciated their setting and the white tablecloth.
No need to say that their champagne is excellent. :-)

The tour was perfect! Great information, great tour guide and not too long or too short. This was one of three tours we did and was our favorite. The tasting afterward was great! Not rushed at all despite the group only having us and another couple. The building and facilities were immaculate and the champagne was delicious! We definitely took home more than we had planned but we’re very happy with our purchase! Don’t miss this tour, and if you don’t have time for the tour at least do a tasting or visit the shop. You won’t be disappointed!
